We are always looking for talented singers with a good voice, a grasp of the rudiments of music and who are prepared to make a commitment. We welcome both experienced and less experienced singers. Although we are always looking for new members in all voices, we are, unusually, very short of Altos at the moment. The Chorus rehearses in central Glasgow every Tuesday night from 7:30pm to 9:45pm and performs in a variety of concerts every year. Click here for some pictures of us in action!
All new members will find the choir friendly, the rehearsals hard work but great fun, and the sheer variety of concerts exciting and stimulating. Although the choir is spread across all ages, it is predominantly a younger ensemble with around 43% of the membership currently in their 20s and 30s. By joining the City of Glasgow Chorus, you will have the chance to share in the great moments that happen from time-to-time, like the occasion the Chorus gave the first performance in Glasgow for over 16 years of Mahler’s Eighth Symphony, The Symphony of a Thousand, and the time we invited top British recording soprano Lesley Garrett to join us for a performance of Brahms’ German Requiem. Then there were the overseas tours to France and the Czech Republic, taking part in a BBC Prom at the Royal Albert Hall, singing at the reopening of the Usher Hall in Edinburgh in 2002 with Jose Carreras and making five recordings, the most recent of which is a world premiere.

Why not come along one evening and hear for yourself?
We will be holding Open Rehearsals
on the dates listed below, when
prospective new members can come along and either sit in and sing with us
or simply listen. This will give you a feel for what we are all
about. If you would like to come along one Tuesday, please turn up at
7.20pm and make yourself known to the Chorus Master, Graham Taylor.
We rehearse in Room R667 of the Royal College Building of Strathclyde University. Entry is by the James Weir Building, which is situated halfway down Montrose Street (in Glasgow city centre). Take the lift to the first floor and follow the signs to R667 (go up the few steps to your left, through the double doors and down the corridor: R667 is at the end of the first corridor on your right.)
